Acting (Beginning)

Mondays
3:30pm - 4:30pm

This class emphasizes ensemble-building as well as personal growth, imaginative play, expanding creativity, strengthening self-confidence and self-discipline, memorization techniques, cultivating personal responsibility, and strategies for successful collaboration. Students will learn and gain acting experience through games, technique, and in-class performance. Course content may include some memorization of short scenes and monologues. The beginning class is offered to students aged 9-13.

Artistic Storytelling (Beginning)

Mondays
3:30pm - 4:30pm

All art tells a story, even without words. This class will dive into the idea of using the written word as art, especially in using words to “paint” descriptions and weave together beautiful stories that have personal meaning. Students will learn the art of constructing a compelling narrative, including topics such as writing realistic dialogue and developing relatable characters. In addition, this class will explore story structure and introduce students to some of the great stories that have been penned by other artists of the written word. Throughout the semester, students will also work on a creative story of their own to be showcased at the IBAA gallery in May. The beginning class is offered for students aged 9-13.

Ballet (Beginning)

Thursdays
4:30pm - 5:30pm

Come learn the basics of ballet in a fun, creative environment. While all experience levels are welcome, this class is perfect for those students with minimal to no experience with ballet. Students will be guided through proper warmup and stretching, classical ballet techniques and steps, and the creativity of expressing oneself through movement in easy-to-memorize choreographed routines. Proper attire required.

Choir

Thursdays
3:30pm - 4:30pm

Experience the dynamic unity of singing together with others in this all-ages choir. Students will be taught vocal technique including proper breathing, ear training to find and hold individual parts when sung together with others, and performance skills. Music style will range from classical to contemporary.

Drawing (Beginning)

Students will have the opportunity to explore the creativity of God, the world, others, and themselves through learning the foundational principles and techniques of drawing and illustration. This class will guide students in creating a portfolio of work that showcases their own visual journey of self-expression and understanding the world around them. All supplies are included. The beginning class is offered for students aged 9-13.

Musical Theatre (Beginning)

Wednesdays
3:30pm - 4:30pm

In this class, students will explore various singing, acting and dancing techniques as well as have the opportunity to put them all together and become well rounded performers. In addition to musical theatre fundamentals, students will be able to practice teamwork, speaking in front of an audience, listening as well as gain confidence, imagination and creativity, through in-class exercises and performance! The beginning class is offered for students aged 9-13 with little to no theatre experience.

Painting (Beginning)

In this course we will be exploring color theory, techniques, mediums, and styles. This course will include both representational and abstract painting projects, as well as a variety of materials. Through the use of paint, observation, and art history, students will gain a better understanding before approaching their canvases. This course is going to be a unique opportunity for our young artists to strengthen their painting skills, as well as enhance the way they observe the world God has given us to explore. The beginning class is offered to students aged 9-13.

This class will help students discover their creativity, individuality and unique style. Students will begin to work toward building an original body of work that can be used as a portfolio that will include both paintings and drawings. All supplies are included. Through this class, students will receive the foundational knowledge needed to take photographs on any device from smartphones to digital cameras. Students will have opportunities to not only develop their skills to showcase a series of work, but also to train their eye to see the world through new lenses of beauty and wonder. Feel free to bring your own digital camera or smartphone for this class. If you don’t own one but would still love to sign up, let us know! The beginning class is offered to students aged 9-13.

Students will learn the principles of great design and typography while using the professional-grade Adobe Photoshop software to create digital drawings, logos, and more. No previous experience with graphic design or specific design applications is required. The beginning class is offered to students aged 9-13.

Special Effects/FX Makeup

Tuesdays
4:30pm - 5:30pm

In this course we will be exploring different techniques within the realm of special effects make up. Through the use of unique materials, color palettes, textures, and patterns the students will gain knowledge and experience in transforming the human bodies into a beautiful work of art. Our exploration will include a large variety of styles; cuts, bruises and wounds, anywhere to wrinkles and burns. This is a beginning level course that welcomes all levels of experience and interests. Within this class our goal is to ultimately learn how to connect the performers to their roles with the use of make up...and of course, having a ton of fun!

Tap (Beginning)

Tuesdays
3:30pm - 4:30pm

Students will learn tap fundamentals and begin to develop their sense of rhythm and timing through music and choreography.  Students will have the opportunity to grow individually as well as work with others in an ensemble setting. (Tap shoes required and are available through Discount Dance Supply in store or online, or can be found on Amazon.)
